Bishop of Oxford

The border goes green in July. This one never does.

🌸

By late July, the border has gone green and flat. Bishop of Oxford hasn't. Its burnt-copper blooms open above foliage so dark it reads as black in low light. That leaf color isn't coincidence. It's the genetic signature of the whole Bishop series from the Netherlands. This is the orange entry. The one that looks like something is burning.

How to Grow It

Plant in full sun after your last frost date. Pinch the main growing tip early to push side branching and more flowers. Feed every two weeks with a low-nitrogen fertiliser once buds appear. Lift tubers after the first frost, dry for a week, and store in barely damp compost over winter.
