Burlesca is a ball dahlia that opens 4–5" blooms in pink. Burlesca opens soft pink with warm apricot shading, then deepens to dusky plum as flowers age. Tightly inrolled petals spiral into honeycomb spheres on strong mid-length stems, giving bouquets a vintage, painterly palette that pairs equally well with creams, wines, and burgundy foliage. It was bred in Netherlands by Duyzer in 2012.

Growing Burlesca

Stake early because mid-height stems carry many rounded heads that can lean after heavy rain. Pinch above the fourth leaf pair to multiply laterals. Feed moderately with a low-nitrogen fertilizer to keep color depth rich. Cut blooms when centers are still fully tight, since open centers soften the antique tones.
