Bred by Joy Gill in Oregon and introduced around 1981, Bright Eyes produces masses of cheerful blooms that open from late summer through frost. Each flower features vivid fuchsia-pink petals that grade to yellow at the base, surrounding a luminous yellow center eye. Bright Eyes is a single dahlia that opens 2.5–3" blooms in pink.

Growing Bright Eyes

Pinch plants early to encourage a full, bushy framework and maximize bloom count. Stake at planting time, as stems can reach a metre and are prone to wind damage. Water deeply at the base rather than overhead to discourage fungal issues. Cut flowers when the outer ring of petals has fully opened but the center disk is still tight for the best post-harvest longevity.
