Informal Decorative · 4–6"YellowN. Gitts (2006)United States

Bahama Mama was bred in United States by N. Gitts in 2006. Bahama Mama opens with buttery banana-yellow centers that fade outward into orchid-pink and soft mauve tips, giving each bloom a warm tropical glow that no solid-color dahlia can match. The ADS-registered BB (ADS 3113, Dark Blend) keeps heads compact enough to fill bouquets without overwhelming stems, while the loosely arranged petals add an airy, relaxed character. It also holds its form on the show bench.

Growing Bahama Mama

Pinch at four to five sets of true leaves to promote branching and maximize stem count. Stake at planting time before growth obscures the crown, and water deeply but infrequently to push roots down. Cut blooms when three-quarters open in the cool of the morning and place immediately into cool water for the best holding.

Spacing
Space roughly 2–3 ft apart
Staking
Stake early — stems carry heavy blooms and lean in wind
