Megan Dean is a miniature ball dahlia that opens 2–3.5" blooms in lavender. Blush-lavender petals open from the outer ring and gradually shift to a deeper lilac at the heart, giving each globe a gentle glow. A UK introduction from 2006, it produces tightly incurved spheres on long, upright stems over a long mid-season window. It was bred in United Kingdom by O. Baldry in 2006.

Growing Megan Dean

Pinch the central bud after four pairs of leaves have formed to encourage branching and higher stem counts. Stake plants before they reach knee height, using a ring or cage that will support lateral growth without crowding. Water deeply at the base twice a week rather than light daily irrigation. Cut stems when the outer ring of petals is fully open but the center remains tight for the longest-lasting blooms.

Spacing
Space roughly 2–3 ft apart
Staking
Stake early — stems carry heavy blooms and lean in wind
