Mystic Illusion
Sunshine blooms above the darkest leaves in the garden.

Bright lemon yellow flowers open against foliage so dark it looks painted. The contrast stops people mid-path. Bred in Auckland by Dr. Keith Hammett, it flowers from midsummer straight through to frost without stopping. This is the dahlia that earns a second look every single time.

How to Grow It
Plant in full sun after your last frost, in well-draining soil. No staking needed. It holds itself upright and branches freely. Deadhead regularly and your stems will keep coming all season. In zones 8 and above you can leave tubers in the ground over winter. In colder zones, lift after the first frost and store somewhere cool and dark.
