Pompon · 1.5–2"PurpleG.H. Lammerse (1962)Netherlands

Rocco was bred in Netherlands by G.H. Lammerse in 1962. Rich lilac-purple globes cover each plant from mid-summer through frost, with tightly inrolled petals forming near-perfect spheres. Rocco traces back to a Dutch breeding program in 1962 and has stayed in production ever since because the button-sized blooms hold their color without fading. Rocco is a pompon dahlia that opens 1.5–2" blooms in purple.

Growing Rocco

Plant in full sun and pinch the main stem at four to five leaf nodes to encourage branching. Stake early so stems stay straight as height increases. Cut frequently once blooms open to drive continuous production through the season. Lift tubers after the first frost and store in a cool, dry location over winter.
