Blue Bayou is an anemone dahlia that opens 4–6" blooms in purple. Blue Bayou produces rich, dark purple flowers that age gracefully to soft lilac at the petal tips, creating a two-tone effect across a season of continuous bloom. A cushion of dense, quill-like purple-magenta inner petals crowns each bloom, while broader outer petals provide a contrasting frame. It is a 1998 Netherlands introduction.

Growing Blue Bayou

Pinch stems at four to six leaf pairs to encourage lateral branching and maximize bloom count. Stake early before the first heavy growth flush. Water deeply but infrequently, letting the top inch of soil dry between sessions. Feed with a low-nitrogen fertilizer once buds begin forming. Cut stems when blooms are three-quarters open and condition immediately in warm water.
