Bloomquist Compare is a formal decorative dahlia that opens 4–6" blooms in lavender. Bloomquist Compare produces full, densely packed blooms that shift from pale lavender at the petals to a deeper lavender center. Color intensity adjusts with day length, running softer in early summer and richer as the season shortens. It was bred in United States by Paul Bloomquist in 2021.

Growing Bloomquist Compare

Stake early, as plants can reach chest height by midsummer. Pinch the central shoot when plants are six to eight inches tall to encourage branching and more stems per plant. Watch for discoloration at the center when days are long; color deepens naturally as seasons shift toward fall. You do not need to disbud for a good harvest, though removing side buds produces larger individual blooms.
