Bacardi
The stem florists reach for when the palette calls for mystery.
Cut a stem of Bacardi and the room leans in. Muddy rose petals darken toward a deep raspberry center, and dark stems carry that moody shift all the way to the vase. It is the rare cutting dahlia that photographs muted and arrangements run with. Florists keep coming back because no other variety holds that color so naturally from field to finished bouquet.

How to Grow It
Plant in full sun and give each plant plenty of room to breathe. Pinch the center shoot once the plant reaches knee height to encourage more branching and stems. Stake at planting before the roots take hold. Harvest when blooms are about three-quarters open, checking that the back petals are still firm and full rather than papery.
