Informal Decorative · 8–10"LavenderDavid Jack (2006)Canada

Broad petals fold down the center and carry a soft lavender that cools toward blue when the light shifts, giving each head a pleated, dimensional look. Bred by David Jack at Ferncliff Gardens in British Columbia, it holds dinner-plate heads on sturdy, upright plants through a long Pacific Northwest season. A Canadian-bred benchmark for growers chasing big, clean lavender blooms. It was bred in Canada by David Jack in 2006.

Growing Ferncliff Inspiration

Stake at planting because the heavy heads will pull tall stems sideways by August. Pinch when plants reach a foot to push strong lateral breaks, then disbud side buds hard for the longest, straightest show stems. Feed low-nitrogen once buds set so petals stay firm and the bluish lavender holds its cool tone. Water deeply twice a week and watch for earwigs hiding in the folded petals as blooms open.

Spacing: Space roughly 2–3 ft apart
Staking: Stake early — stems carry heavy blooms and lean in wind
