Bracken Rose opens into tightly packed blooms of dusty, smoky rose that shift between mauve and dark pink in different light. Petals layer up in a high count that holds shape from bud to near-full open, and stems run long with a slight nod at the head. It throws new buds through mid and late summer, making it one of the more productive varieties in the cutting patch.

Growing Bracken Rose

Plant in full sun with good drainage, spacing widely enough so air moves freely around the foliage. Pinch when the main stem reaches four sets of leaves to push out lateral branches and improve overall yield. Stake early because the stems grow tall and can lean under the weight of wet blooms. Water deeply at the base two or three times a week rather than with frequent shallow waterings, and keep the leaves dry to reduce mildew pressure late in the season. Cut stems in the early morning when buds are just starting to open for the longest possible fresh life.
