Semi-Cactus · 4–6"PinkDick and Susan Ambrose (Camano Dahlias) (1997)United States

Camano Cloud opens tall above green foliage with long twisted petals that settle into soft pink rays the shade of an early-morning sky. Dick and Susan Ambrose grew it from seed gifted by Dick Matthies on Camano Island, making it the very first of the Camano line that now counts more than a hundred introductions. Show exhibitors keep a row because the plants hold form on the bench, and small-farm growers like the clean pink that pairs with almost anything. It was bred in United States by Dick and Susan Ambrose (Camano Dahlias) in 1997.

Growing Camano Cloud

Stake Camano Cloud at planting because stems stretch well past shoulder height and carry heavy flowers on thin necks. Pinch the growing tip once four leaf pairs are up to push more cutting stems. Disbud the two side buds under each main bloom if you want exhibition-grade heads. Water deeply twice a week and feed with a low-nitrogen bloom formula once buds set. Cut early in the morning when petals have just opened, because fully open blooms shatter on the walk back to the cooler.
