Spiraling quills of deep rose open wide with warm gold tones woven through the outer petals, so the bloom shifts in color as the light moves. Kennedy bred this Oregon seedling from Hollyhill Cotton Candy, and it earned the Derrill Hart Medal for best B-sized flower in ADS trial gardens the year it debuted. Grow it for the show bench or the cutting patch. It was bred in United States by Ted and Margaret Kennedy in 2013.

Growing Hollyhill Augustina

Stake plants before they hit knee height since the stems carry heavy heads that sway in wind. Pinch at four leaf sets to build branching and boost stem count through summer. Feed with a low-nitrogen mix at first bud to keep quill color saturated and petals firm. Water deeply at the base twice a week rather than watering shallowly every day.
