Incurved Cactus · 7–8"RedDick & Susan Ambrose (2005)United States

Sharp quilled petals curve inward to form a tightly structured globe of red tipped in bright white, giving each bloom a striking two-tone contrast that reads clearly from across the garden. The Ambrose team introduced it in 2005 as part of their long-running Pacific Northwest program, adding another bold, large-flowered option to a lineup already respected by Pacific Northwest growers. Cut stems carry well and the color holds in warm conditions. It was bred in United States by Dick & Susan Ambrose in 2005.

Growing Camano Rascal

Plant in full sun and give each stem its own stake before growth reaches knee height, since the large blooms catch wind. Pinch after four sets of leaves appear to encourage strong side branches and longer cut stems. Watch for powdery mildew in humid stretches; good air circulation between rows helps keep foliage clean through late summer.
