Informal Decorative · 4–6"Orange

Marmalade is an informal decorative dahlia that opens 4–6" blooms in orange. Marmalade produces generously sized orange blooms with the loosely arranged, gently rolling petals characteristic of its form. The color reads as a saturated, warm orange -- vivid without being harsh -- that photographs well and holds its intensity from bud to full open.

Growing Marmalade

Plant in a spot that receives at least six hours of direct sun and has well-drained soil. Pinch the central shoot after the third or fourth leaf pair appears to encourage a branching habit and heavier stem production. Stake plants early in the season before they reach full height, as the tall habit can catch wind. Cut stems in the early morning when blooms are about three-quarters open, and place immediately in cool water.

Staking
