Rip City opens deep garnet red and deepens to near-black at the center, creating that moody, high-contrast look that stops people mid-arrangement. The long, sturdy stems make it the kind of flower you reach for first when building a dramatic bouquet. If you grow dahlias for the drama, this one was made for you.

How to Grow It
Plant in full sun in well-drained, fertile soil enriched with compost. Pinch the growing tip early to encourage more branching and more blooms. Deadhead regularly to keep flowers coming from midsummer through first frost. In autumn, cut back the stems and lift the tubers before hard freezes; store them somewhere cool and dry over winter.
