Tahiti Sunrise is a semi-cactus dahlia that opens 4–6" blooms in yellow. Each pointed, rolled petal opens from a bright yellow center, shading through deep red and finishing at the tips in vivid magenta-purple. The color shift across one bloom is bold enough to read from a distance and changes character as the flower matures through the season. It was bred in Netherlands by Cox in 1975.

Growing Tahiti Sunrise

Plant tubers after the last frost date in a full-sun spot with good drainage to keep roots healthy through the summer. Pinch the growing tip above the third or fourth leaf node early in the season to encourage branching and a higher stem count. Stake each plant as it grows since the full, heavy heads can topple in summer wind and rain. Cut stems early in the morning when the outer petals have just fully reflexed for the longest post-harvest hold.
