Semi-Cactus · 4–6"Red

Black Spider produces deeply saturated blooms in rich dark red to near-black tones, giving gardens and arrangements a moody, dramatic presence. Spiky, quill-like petals radiate outward with good symmetry and a bold, slightly wild texture. Plants are notably vigorous and free-flowering, making them a rewarding pick for gardeners who want dark color impact without fussing over complicated culture.

Growing Black Spider

Stake plants early because stems need support once buds develop on these tall, vigorous plants. Pinch the central shoot when plants are knee-high to encourage branching and more blooms. Water deeply once a week rather than shallowly and often, and keep soil consistently moist during bud set. Feed with a low-nitrogen fertilizer once buds appear. Cut blooms as soon as they open fully to keep new buds coming.

Spacing: Space roughly 2–3 ft apart
Staking: Stake early — stems carry heavy blooms and lean in wind
