✂ Cut Flower

Diva

Deep jewel-toned purple that florists keep asking for by name.

Dahlia 'Diva', Type(FD) 2012

Cut a stem of Diva and the color stops people. Dark raspberry-purple, saturated enough to look almost unreal, it holds that depth from bud to vase. The slightly pointed petal tips give it a precision the other purples lack. Swan Island introduced it in 2010 and it has been on order lists ever since.

How to Grow It

Plant in full sun after the last frost threat passes, with good drainage. Pinch the main stem early to push side branching and more stems. Water deeply but infrequently, and stake early. Cut stems at three-quarters open and condition overnight in cool water.
