Anemone · 2.5–3.5"RedBill McClaren (1995)United States

Alpen Fury is an anemone dahlia that opens 2.5–3.5" blooms in red. Red outer petals cradle a golden tuft that reads like a flicker of flame across the bed. The genetic kink that makes the inner florets stand up proud instead of falling flat is what keeps this one on the head table after three decades. It was bred in United States by Bill McClaren in 1995.

Growing Alpen Fury

Stake early since the stems carry the open center heads high and a summer storm can tip them. Pinch once at four leaf pairs for a bushier plant, and disbud the side buds if you want the biggest center tufts to show cleanly.

Spacing
Space roughly 2–3 ft apart
Staking
Stake early — stems carry heavy blooms and lean in wind
