Bracken Palomino
The late-season dahlia your bouquets have been waiting for.
When the garden winds down, Bracken Palomino is just hitting its stride. This Queensland-born variety from breeder Neville Naumann holds its perfectly formed blooms upright on strong stems, making it as reliable in a vase as it is on the plant. If you grow dahlias because you refuse to let summer end early, this one is yours.

How to Grow It
Start your tubers early indoors, because Bracken Palomino is a late bloomer and needs extra lead time to perform at its best. Pinch your plant when it reaches about knee height to encourage branching and more stems. Stake or net your plant well, as it grows tall and top-heavy. Keep your plant consistently watered and feed it with a low-nitrogen fertiliser once buds appear. Deadhead regularly to keep new blooms coming through autumn.
