Ball · 3.5–4"YellowRichard Parshall (2013)United States

Clearview Daniel was bred in United States by Richard Parshall in 2013. Tight spirals of buttercream petals pack into a near-perfect sphere that glows across a garden bed and holds its geometry for days after cutting. Bred by Dick and Danielle Parshall at Clearview Dahlias in Snohomish, it swept both the ADS Hart Medal and Stanley Johnson Medal, collecting more blue ribbons on show benches than nearly any yellow sphere of its generation. It also holds its form on the show bench.

Growing Clearview Daniel

Stake early because the five-foot plants carry heavy, stem-ending spheres that will tilt in wind once they open. Pinch at four sets of leaves to push strong laterals, then disbud tight so each stem delivers one show-quality head. Feed low-nitrogen once buds set to keep the yellow clear rather than muddy-green, and cut blooms as soon as the back petals firm up for the longest hold in water.
