Taratahi Glo comes from John Frater in New Zealand. Taratahi Glo is a flat-petalled, double-flowered dahlia bred in New Zealand by John and Edna Frater of Masterton, one of only three Taratahi cultivars to gain a following in North America. Its broad petals carry a warm flame blend of orange, red, and yellow that shifts across the bloom, creating depth in both the garden and the harvest bucket. Taratahi Glo is a waterlily dahlia in orange.

Growing Taratahi Glo

Plant tubers in full sun after all frost risk has passed, in rich, well-drained soil. Pinch the growing tip once a few leaf sets have formed to encourage branching and more flower stems. Water at the base consistently through the season, and keep the crown area as dry as possible to reduce rot risk. Disbud side buds if you want larger, cleaner blooms for display. Lift, divide, and store tubers carefully after the first frost, as yields can vary from year to year.
