AC Abby is a cactus dahlia that opens 4–6" blooms in red. Late summer rows glow when AC Abby opens, each bloom a burst of spiky rays in ember red. Every petal starts gold at the base and deepens to scarlet toward the tip, so the flower looks lit from within. It was bred in United States by Ken Greenway in 2012.

Growing AC Abby

Stake early, because those tall stems carry heavy blooms that catch wind after rain. Pinch the growing tip once several leaf pairs form to encourage branching, and disbud the side buds when you want exhibition quality stems. Feed with low nitrogen once buds set, and harvest in the cool of the morning just as blooms fully open.

Spacing: Space about 3 ft apart
Staking: Stake early — stems carry heavy blooms and lean in wind
