Bloomquist Jean was bred in United States by Paul Bloomquist in 2018. Tall, vigorous plants throw open huge pumpkin-orange heads with pointed petals that curl back toward the stem. The reflexed shape gives each flower a shaggy, windblown silhouette that catches light like copper foil. It also holds its form on the show bench.

Growing Bloomquist Jean

Stake at planting since tall stems carry oversized heads and topple in autumn storms. Pinch the growing tip above the fourth leaf pair to push more branching and longer side stems. Disbud the two side buds under each terminal to concentrate energy into one clean show-quality head per stem. Feed every two weeks with a low-nitrogen bloom formula once buds form to fuel those big coppery heads. Cut early in the morning when petals have just started to reflex for the longest hold after harvest.
