Growing Clyde's Choice

Plant tubers in a warm, sunny bed once all frost risk has passed, giving each plant generous spacing. Stake firmly at planting time, as plants grow very tall and heavy blooms need support from the start. Pinch the central shoot above the third set of leaves to encourage branching and more bloom stems. Switch to a low-nitrogen fertiliser once buds form and water deeply but infrequently. Cut flowers when three-quarters open for the best longevity.

Spacing
Space about 3 ft apart
Staking
Stake early — stems carry heavy blooms and lean in wind
