Alpen Sundown is a BB-class bloom from Montana hybridizer Bill McClaren of Alpen Gardens, registered with the ADS in 2007. Each flower opens with soft butter-yellow petals edged and streaked with cranberry and raspberry tones, the colors blending into a warm peachy center. Compact plants push long, strong stems throughout the season, making this a reliable cut-flower producer. It was bred in United States by Bill McClaren in 2007.

Growing Alpen Sundown

Pinch the central bud when plants reach about a foot tall to encourage branching and a higher stem count. Stake early before the stems get heavy, as compact plants can still tip in wind. Water deeply and evenly through the hottest weeks to keep petals from bleaching or scorching at the tips. Cut stems in the early morning once petals are just fully reflexed for the longest bucket life.
