Collarette · 3.5–4"OrangeSwan Island Dahlias (1998)United States

Pooh was bred in United States by Swan Island Dahlias in 1998. Pooh produces open-faced blooms with a ring of pointed orange-red outer petals tipped in bright yellow, surrounding a ruffled inner ring and an open central disc. The contrast between the warm orange petals and the golden-yellow collar gives each flower a cheerful, two-toned look that stands out in borders and cutting gardens alike. Pooh is a collarette dahlia that opens 3.5–4" blooms in orange.

Growing Pooh

Plant in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil once frost risk has passed. Stake early, as tall stems can bend in wind. Pinch the central shoot above the third set of leaves to encourage branching and more blooms. Water consistently at the base and feed with a low-nitrogen fertiliser once buds appear. Cut stems early in the morning when outer petals are just fully open for best longevity.

Spacing
Space roughly 2–3 ft apart
Staking
Stake early — stems carry heavy blooms and lean in wind
