Yvonne is a waterlily dahlia that opens 4–5" blooms in orange. Yvonne glows in the vase like a late-August sunset, cycling through apricot, mango, and coral over the season. Cor Geerlings bred this Dutch classic in the 1980s and its airy, upward-facing blooms have held their place in cut-flower rotations ever since. It was bred in Netherlands by Cor Geerlings in 1987.

Growing Yvonne

Stake your plant early. It is a tall grower and the stems, though strong, will splay without support. Pinch when your plant is knee-high to encourage branching and multiply your stem count. Cut regularly to keep production high; leaving spent blooms on the plant slows new bud set. In cooler late-season weather, the color on your stems deepens and the apricot shifts toward a richer coral.

Spacing
Space roughly 2–3 ft apart
Staking
Stake early — stems carry heavy blooms and lean in wind
