Jowey Hubert is a ball dahlia that opens 4–5" blooms in red. Perfectly round blooms open a deep brick red with a creamy yellow reverse that catches the light from across the garden. The two-tone read shifts as petals age, so early-season stems look rich and jeweled while late-season cuts lean toward amber and copper. It was bred in Belgium by Jozef Weyts in 2015.

Growing Jowey Hubert

Pinch your center stem when plants reach about a foot to encourage lateral branching and build out your harvest count. Stake rows before the round heads fill out, since the dense blooms carry enough weight to lean in wind. Cut stems hard and often to keep new buds pushing; the more you harvest, the more you get. Watch for earwigs hiding inside the tight petal structure and shake stems out before bringing them indoors.
