Ball · 3.5–4"RedJozef Weyts (2014)Belgium

Jowey Joshua is a ball dahlia that opens 3.5–4" blooms in red. Tight round blooms open a burnt brick red with a creamy yellow reverse, so the flower reads coppery and metallic from across a room. The two-tone petals shift as light moves across them, giving each stem the look of hammered metal rather than a painted bloom. It was bred in Belgium by Jozef Weyts in 2014.

Growing Jowey Joshua

Pinch your center stem when plants reach about a foot to push side branching and multiply bud count. Stake early, before the stems carry weight, because strong wind will lean your bushy growth over. Disbud to one flower per stem when you want the cleanest market-grade blooms. Cut hard and often once buds open; your plants respond by setting more.
