Jowey Marilyn comes from Jozef Weyts in Belgium. Tightly formed spherical heads open deep wine and shift toward fuchsia as they age, so each stem carries two moods at once. The petal tips catch a faint silver sheen that gives the whole flower a metallic depth, rare in a dark purple. Jowey Marilyn is a ball dahlia that opens 4–6" blooms in purple.

Growing Jowey Marilyn

Pinch your center stem when plants reach about a foot to drive lateral branching and multiply stem count. Stake rows early, before height and full foliage make access difficult. Cut when blooms are three-quarters open, checking that the back petals feel firm rather than papery. Keep cutting hard and often through the season to encourage a steady second and third flush.
